Birth Doula Package* - $500.00
This package is best for mothers, couples, and families who are looking for support during the pregnancy, in addition to their birth. This description of the Birth Doula package is a general, basic listing of what this package offers – but, can always be adjusted to and customized to each individual mother’s needs and desires during pregnancy, labor, and birth.
This package includes the following services:
· A minimum of four (4) prenatal visits.* These visits allow you and your doula to get to know one another and become comfortable with each before the birth. During these visits, you will discuss with your doula: your needs and desires for your birth, your expectations of her as your doula, what pain management and soothing techniques you wish to use, what your birthing plan may be, what alternatives to your birthing plan you’re comfortable with in the event that something has to change or doesn’t go the way you planned in labor, and what you wish to happen with yourself and your baby in the few first hours after the birth, while you’re still in the hospital or birthing center. You can also use these visits to discuss and share with your doula how you’re feeling and how you’re doing – what thoughts you may have about your pregnancy and birth, what feelings or emotions you may have about your birth, how you are dealing with these feelings or emotions, and what you may need in order to help overcome these things, if you feel they are preventing you from having the birth you want or enjoying your pregnancy. These visits are a time for you to share with your doula what you feels she needs to know and what you may want her to know, in order for you to have the most support and care you need during your birth! (*These prenatal visits DO NOT include the initial consultation nor do they count towards emergency visits, however often an emergency may occur.)
· Attendance of caregiver appointments for support and assistance. If you request it, your doula will be more than happy to meet with your primary care giver for your pregnancy – which will be important when the time for your birth comes. Your caregiver, such as your obstetrician or your doula, should be familiar with your doula, so that everyone on your birth team can work together easily to ensure you’re getting the best care and support possible. As well, if needed, your doula will also accompany you to any other caregiver appointments your pregnancy requires, such as a specialist, for support and assistance.
· On-call 24/7, starting two weeks before your Estimated Due Date. Once you reach the point of being two (2) weeks away from your estimated due date, your doula is available and ready to come support you and be with you when your labor begins. Even you go into labor before your Estimated Due Date, your doula will be ready at any point during this time.
· Continuous support during labor and birth. Once you are in labor, your doula will come meet with you and be there to support you until you have given birth and are settled comfortably with your baby. If you choose, you can have her come during the early stages of labor, to provide comfort and soothing techniques to keep your energy up and keep you calm. Or, you can choose to labor by yourself, and only call on your doula for the start of the active stages of labor, when the contractions are steady and you are progressing through labor. The choice is yours, however, once your doula arrives, you can be sure that she will stay with you to support and assist you all the way through until you give birth – no matter how long your labor is or what complications arise.
· A minimum of (3) postpartum visits. These visits will begin after you have been released from the hospital and have arrived home with your baby. The first visit will be three days after your release from the hospital and you have arrived home. The second will be a week after birth, to check in and see how you’re adjusting and how the baby is doing and to discuss your birth and any feelings and thoughts you may have about it. The third will be two weeks after your baby’s birth and will be for the purposes of seeing how you’re feeling so far, discussing with you how you’re continuing to adjust to the new baby and the postpartum period, and to assess whether or not you’d like to secure our postpartum services or if you’re satisfied with what the Birth Doula Package has provided you and feel that you’ve been fully supported and assisted in your pregnancy and birth by your doula.
· Postpartum Care. This will offered during the postpartum visit. As one of EarthBorn Birthwork’s services is herbalism, from a certified herbalist, you will be offered a number of herbal remedies to choose from to assist in your postpartum healing. Your doula will be able to offer you: an herbal sitz bath, which is an herbal mixture that a postpartum mother soaks in to assist with helping her body heal from birth; a perineum wash, an herbal mixture that ensure that you are able to cleanse your vaginal area and promote healing, good health, and cleanliness; and herbal teas, which will assist with after-birth pains, constipation, or any other personal ailments that can occur while your body is adjust and healing after birth.
· Continuous phone, email, and text message support. Your doula will be available for questions, concerns, and to talk with you if there is a problem, and can be reached by phone, email, or through text messages. Your doula will do her absolute best to answer when you contact her, but it is very important to ALWAYS leave a voicemail message or text message letting her know what is going on and your reason for contacting, if she should miss your call. This way, it can always be understood if you’re calling for an emergency and when you’re not, and there will be no misunderstandings if she takes longer to get back to you than she anticipated. She will never take any longer than 24 hours to get back to you, if you cannot get in touch with her, unless there is an emergency – and even then, you will be informed of this and not left wondering what is going and why you can’t get in touch with her.

Postpartum Doula Package** - $350.00
This package is best for mother, couples, or families who are in need of assistance with a newborn and the adjustment that has to happen once you arrive home with your newborn. This package is best for women who are only a couple of days out of the hospital or have a newborn, in addition to older children; however, any mother who has just given birth can request postpartum doula services up until the infant is eighteen months old. These services can be offered either as singular visits or, if there is the need, overnight visits – it depends on your needs and your desires and the availability of your doula. The description of the Postpartum Doula Package is a general, basic listing of the services included with this package, but can always be adjusted and individualized for each momma’s specific needs and desires.
This package includes the following services:
· A minimum of six (6) postpartum visits. These visits are designed to allow you a chance to be assisted as a new mother, new parents, or to provide an extra set of helping hands to the family as you all adjust to your new addition. During these visits, your doula will sit with you and talk with you about how you’re feeling, how you’re recovering from your birth, how you’re settling in at home with the baby, as well as answer any questions you may have about yourself and your baby, now that you’ve delivered. Assistance around the house and with any older children you may have is included. At these visits, if there are any concerns you have that you feel that you want to confide in your doula about – emotions, feelings, thoughts about your birth or postpartum period – it’s encouraged that you share them with her and allow yourself the chance to talk things through that you may not be able to share with your friends, family, or caregivers, for whatever reason. Your doula is here to support you and be sure that you are adjusting to motherhood, parenthood, and a new baby around the house, so don’t be afraid to confide in her and ask for the help you need!
· Newborn care and assistance. Your doula will help you to care for your baby during your postpartum visits, by doing simple tasks such as changing diapers, feeding the baby if s/he is bottle-fed, putting him/her to sleep, or watching over her for a few minutes while you shower or a few hours while you and/or your partner take a nap or sleeps. She can also be of assistance in areas such as how to notice and understand things about your baby that may be new or unfamiliar to you. Your postpartum doula is not a nanny, but instead a helpmate for you, for you can better adjust to having a newborn in the home and not become overwhelmed by all the tasks and responsibilities that come with this.
· Light housekeeping, meal preparation, and meal planning. One of the most important things about the postpartum period is being sure that the mother is able to heal properly, rest, and bond with her baby, without feeling overwhelmed by all the other responsibilities she has around the house and with her family. Your postpartum doula will do light housekeeping tasks, such as washing dishes and sweeping and changing your sheets, as well as being sure that you and your family have meals set up and prepared ahead of time. All of these tasks will be done as you would usually do them yourself and to your satisfaction – the only thing is, your doula is there to do it for you, so that you can properly rest and heal and bond with your newborn!
· Postpartum care. This is offered in the Postpartum Doula Package, in the form of making sure that you are healing up as you’re supposed to and helping you to understand what is normal and what is not normal during your postpartum period when it comes to your body and your health. Things such as bleeding are normal, but too much bleeding is an indication of a problem, and your doula will be able to help you to determine when you should call your caregiver and assist you in following your caregiver’s instructions on how to solve the problem and return back to a normal course of healing. As EarthBorn Birthwork’s services include herbalism, you will also be offered a number of herbal remedies to choose from to assist in your postpartum healing.
